BBC World Service appearance (2020)

Eric has been a guest on BBC World Service radio. For Newshour, the BBC’s flagship international news programme, he discussed the implications of a Beijing-imposed national security law on Hong Kong’s education curriculum.

Mentorship at CNN Academy Abu Dhabi

In 2024, Eric served as a lead mentor at CNN Academy in Abu Dhabi, guiding over 100 aspiring journalists through a week-long breaking news simulation. He led field production workshops, shared frontline reporting experiences, and mentored students through an entire reporting process — from newsgathering to source building and scripting.

Hostile Environment and Emergency First Aid Training (HEFAT), England

Eric completed a certified HEFAT course in England in 2022, which is designed to prepare journalists for reporting in high-risk environments. The training included risk assessment, situational awareness, conflict zone navigation, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency first aid including CPR and trauma care.

Panelist at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, Hong Kong (FCC)

Eric spoke on a panel at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Hong Kong, sharing his frontline reporting experiences during the 2019 pro-democracy protests. The discussion explored challenges faced by journalists covering civil unrest and press freedom in Hong Kong.
